Biographical Note:

I was delighted to find this youtube video (below) of  "The Big Picture," produced by the Armed Forces, describing the Army Information School at Fort Slocum, located on a small island in Long Island Sound off New Rochelle, New York. The video also describes The Chaplain's School also on the island.

After graduating from the Army Information School in 1955 on Davids Island I was assigned to the 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in Heilbronn, Germany, where I served as Information Specialist. In late 1956 our division switched locations with the 8th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, in Operation Gyroscope. Two of the three photographers our unit had in Germany returned to civilian life while the third was assigned elsewhere. In addition to my other duties, I took over the duties of photographer, set  up a dark room (with the help of a 9th Division expert) in a cottage on the Post and had the pleasure of using a Speed Graphic camera and a Rolleiflex camera.

I had entered the Army after graduating from Norwalk (CT) High School in 1954 and served for three years. After my honorable discharge in 1957 I attended NYU both part-time and full-time. I graduated from the School of Commerce (Now the Stern School) in October 1964.
